Congressman John Campbell is a life-long Californian who found success as a businessman – Born in Los Angeles, Campbell, a fourth generation Californian, has lived in Irvine for over 26 years. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California in Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in business taxation from the University of Southern California. John and his wife, Catherine, have been married for over 25 years and have two sons, both of whom spent their entire K-12 education in public school and both currently attend USC.
For nearly a quarter century, Congressman Campbell worked in the automotive industry. He spent a majority of his career representing several automobile franchises, including Nissan, Mazda, Ford, Saturn, and Saab. Campbell is also a Certified Public Accountant who, prior to his automotive career, was a tax accountant with Ernst & Young in Los Angeles.
Congressman Campbell was elected to the United States House of Representatives in a December 2005 special election to replace Rep. Chris Cox who had been appointed earlier that year as Chairman of the SEC. Congressman Campbell currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Budget Committee. He is also a member of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest caucus of conservative members in the House, and is the Chair of the Budget & Spending Taskforce for the RSC.
