Many of you have probably read my "laptop" reports which I have written regularly for 10 years now. What you may not have known is that those missives are sent out by an "official" government computer using government resources. Because there is official government involvement there, the law prohibits me from saying much of anything that is related to my campaign for reelection or any other campaigns anywhere across the state or the nation. So, in order to give you information on what may be happening in my and many other campaigns around the country, I need to write a separate laptop that uses only the resources of my campaign to edit and distribute.

Voila! Here is the Resistance Report. The first of my campaign laptop reports!

Like my "other" laptop, these will not be self-serving. You will hear about some things going on in my campaign, but also about progress towards Republicans regaining control of the House or Senate, as well as the California Governor's race, propositions and other scuttlebutt.

Just a couple of tidbits for right now: Most comprehensive polling shows that if the election were held today, Republicans would be close to taking back both the House and the Senate. But the election is not today. It is over 8 months away and lots can happen between now and then. What will unemployment and the economy be like? Will there be another terrorist attack on US interests? There are so many dynamics in play that can affect the nation's mood and the "trend" of the year. Furthermore, Democrats have a lot more campaign cash right now than Republicans do because of a good fundraising year for them in 2009 as they basked in the now short-lived Obama glow.

However, 2010 is here and your commitment to the cause will make the difference in November. Let’s keep the momentum going!
